Following its initial success in Atlanta, the Packaging Recycling Summit, organized by Packaging World, is set to take place in Anaheim, California, at the JW Marriott, Anaheim Resort, from September 16 to 18, 2024. The summit aims to unite a diverse group of participants, including brands, retailers, packaging suppliers, reprocessors, and material recovery facilities (MRFs), to foster collaboration within the circular supply chain. The event will delve into the entire supply chain, focusing on recyclable materials, recycling processes, and the development of markets for recycled waste.
The 2023 summit saw nearly 400 attendees, both in-person and online, highlighting the event's significance in bringing together various stakeholders to discuss and collaborate on recycling initiatives.
Matt Reynolds, editor at Packaging World, emphasizes the Packaging Recycling Summit's (PRS) mission to transition brands from being mere creators of potentially recyclable materials to active contributors in the circular economy. The event focuses on the significance of understanding the diverse dynamics and incentives within each segment of the value chain, allowing Consumer Packaged Goods (CPGs) companies to foster a profitable circular economy that serves the interest of all involved. The success of this endeavor hinges on ensuring that every participant in the chain gains economically.
The summit is curated by the seasoned editors of Packaging World and supported by a knowledgeable advisory board. This year's agenda is carefully crafted to address current and emerging topics, including sustainable packaging design, the reduction of climate impact, the integration of post-consumer recycled (PCR) materials, and enhancing design in collaboration with Material Recovery Facilities (MRFs). It also covers the advantages and drawbacks of different packaging materials, shifts in consumer behaviors, updates on state legislations and Extended Producer Responsibility (EPR) policies, and the development of markets for recycled content.
Reynolds shares his anticipation for the Anaheim event, expecting it to once again convene professionals dedicated to forging more robust and sustainable supply chains that not only improve their profitability but also benefit the environment. The summit promises to be a significant occasion, offering three days of meaningful discussions and advancements.
The 2024 Packaging Recycling Summit is now open for registration, with a limited number of sponsorship opportunities available, inviting industry stakeholders to be part of this pivotal event.
